Todd Myers’ bio states that, “he is one of the nation’s leading experts on free-market environmental policy”.  Myers is a public relations professional and the director for a small think-tank located in Seattle, Washington called the Washington Policy Center (WPC).

Myers has been opposed to the best interests of the environment on many occasions. In a “Policy Note” from the Washington Policy Foundation, Todd Myers criticized “green” building standards proposed in Spokane, WA, claiming that buildings made to LEED certification standards are “costing more to build and actually increasing energy use. He has also written a Legislative Memo opposing HB 2346, a bill which would introduce solar energy subsidies in Washington. Myers was a speaker at the Heartland Institute’s First International Conference on Climate Change.

The Heartland Institute has received significant funding from ExxonMobil, Phillip Morris and numerous other corporations and right-wing foundations with vested interest in the global warming debate.

Myers has also been on the Natural Resources Task Force of the American Legislative Exchange Council (ALEC).  ALEC has long attacked climate and science policy stating in 2011 that, “Carbon dioxide is a naturally occurring, non-toxic and beneficial gas, and it poses no direct threat to public health”. ALEC was also named in the American Petroleum Institute’s Global Climate Science Communication Plan, which outlines strategies to undermine climate change science in government and public opinion.
